I know what you’re asking yourself. Did she knit a replica of a hat that Hermione wore in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? ……… yes.

When it rains, I tend to look like a simulacra of the most stereotypically British fashion conventions. And I love that. I won’t apologize for it. We were in Halifax for last weekend and it rained the entire time, and was mostly beautiful. This was pretty much how I looked all weekend (the scarf varied).

We had one last perfect fall day on Thursday of last week. It was sunny, crisp, the leaves were golden and crimson, and the temperature was in the teens. It was a beautiful farewell to autumn, I think.

The Boyfriend and I took a walk around to Main Street and then home again for a lovely evening of Community-watching.
I really love this outfit because I thought of combining pretty much all of my current favorite pieces in my wardrobe with one of my summer staples - I love how the grandpa sweater, the lace undershirt, and the romper all coalesce so well together. A match made in heaven, really. Plus, these colors are not only perfect fall colors, but they’re perfect with the way my hair color has faded out at the moment.
This grandpa sweater, I can’t get enough of it. I pinned a brooch from one of my other vests on it with bright topaz and cyan glass costume jewelry on it, and it makes it all the more kitsch. I love it.

This is the back detail of both the undershirt and the romper. Just another part of the outfit that made me delighted to have figured it out.

As you can probably see, my Cambridge Satchel (combined birthday present from my brothers) finally arrived! It is all I ever dreamed and more. Seriously - love at first sight. Breaking in this leather is the loveliest thing I’ve ever done.

And of course, nothing says lab day like a nice little casual utilitarian outfit…completely from the Gap, which my hilarious German ex-thesis supervisor calls “communism for Americans.”
