True story: I got this jacket, like, four years ago. This is the first time I’ve successfully styled it. Isn’t it lovely?

This was my attempt at styling these new distressed bleached jeans I got from the Gap, which I love the idea of and which can look good, but which I possibly may have overstyled in this particular outfit. The reason I overstyled them is relatively simple: we went out for dinner at a Cajun place and I sort of got inspired by the Cajun diner aesthetic. This is about as tough as my looks ever get.

This, incidentally, was my amazing blackened catfish salad with buttermilk herb dressing. I adore catfish. And there’s a whole fucker there.

I must confess, I fell prey to the Gap again. They are really rocking my world this summer. They have all the casual staples that I’ve been loving - usually I go for a very prim and proper old-fashioned look, but I’ve been working on cultivating a good casual look, because everyone needs one, right? I should want to wear jeans, right?

Anyway, j’adore these shorts. They’re a nice firm white denim and they’re long enough to feel a little more mature than short-shorts. Plus - this scarf is heaven. Three different vintage-inspired patterns? Yes please. But I’m horrible, and my spending is over, and I’m leaving my cards at home from now one. That is a vow!

These pants are what I call my confidence pants - you can only wear them if you’re feeling confident. But they’re a wonderful summer staple - very cool and crisp and versatile and unexpected, almost, I think. Today was one of those muggy days where it can’t decide if it’s sweltering or chilly or both, so white pants and a warm cashmere cardigan to be taken off over a lightweight tee was just the ticket.
