The Boyfriend and I went to the Remembrance Day service. I dressed up in a new vintage skirt I thrifted from Halifax because it felt more respectful than going in jeans. Isn’t this a lovely skirt? I don’t even bother trying to be creative in thrift stores. I literally just look for the old woolen cardigans and the old woolen skirts, because they are beautiful, high-quality, classic treasures waiting to be found by someone who’ll appreciate them.

We had one last perfect fall day on Thursday of last week. It was sunny, crisp, the leaves were golden and crimson, and the temperature was in the teens. It was a beautiful farewell to autumn, I think.
The Boyfriend and I took a walk around to Main Street and then home again for a lovely evening of Community-watching.
I really love this outfit because I thought of combining pretty much all of my current favorite pieces in my wardrobe with one of my summer staples - I love how the grandpa sweater, the lace undershirt, and the romper all coalesce so well together. A match made in heaven, really. Plus, these colors are not only perfect fall colors, but they’re perfect with the way my hair color has faded out at the moment.
This grandpa sweater, I can’t get enough of it. I pinned a brooch from one of my other vests on it with bright topaz and cyan glass costume jewelry on it, and it makes it all the more kitsch. I love it.
This is the back detail of both the undershirt and the romper. Just another part of the outfit that made me delighted to have figured it out.

I really am sort of enamored with the colors of the grandpa sweater I thrifted last week. It’s the perfect pumpkin pie spice colors for fall/autumn; it’s perfectly oversized and (shockingly) doesn’t smell like smoke. I got a little carried away with belting/layering on Monday. I especially liked that I thought of a way to wear this vest, which while charming tends to languish in the back of my closet, alas.

This is not what I wore to work, but when I came home I was so exhausted (I also think I’m coming down with a throat infection) that I just wanted to throw warm comfy clothes on. And rompers are extremely comfy. You never have to worry about anything being pulled down or up.
