Oh, so Anna Karenina. I love it.

I’ve wanted to style a tie for a really long time. Of course, as soon as I did it, even though I liked the outfit, I didn’t want to talk about it or have it visibly mentioned by anyone, because I’ve found that people usually aren’t as enthusiastic by my weird blend of menswear and prep as they would be on my blog. So when my Organic Chem prof told me I was looking very formal, I made some extremely awkward comment about liking to steal from my boyfriend.

My midterm gift to myself was this pair of corduroy pants from Gap. I’ve been coveting a pair for the longest time, but resolved not to buy any until I knew they would be flattering. American Apparel’s definitely weren’t flattering, and I didn’t trust American Eagle’s sizing on me. These were on sale in October for a limited time, and so I ordered them, trusting that they would be, as promised, the same fit as the other skinny jeans I have from Gap. They are. I love them.
Oh, and I usually wear this vintage blouse of my mom’s as sleepwear, but I’m putting it into daytime rotation.

Thank god for the fashion bloggers out there who still dress originally and not just in the clothes that Modcloth sends them.
