I can wear baggy pants and feel pretty cool, but mostly if I wear heels and a blazer.

With a good enough dress, all you need is a pair of red shoes.

I firmly believe that Oscar night should be fancy-dress night. Granted, my formal wardrobe is a little limited here at school (I left most of it at home), but I did my best nonetheless. I feel slightly sad about some of the results (no love for David Fincher? Will Annette Bening ever get the love she so deserves before she chokes a bitch?) but the Boyfriend had fun getting drunk and watching them, and marvelling at how high James Franco, king of Trolls, was.

I treated myself to a warm, oversized, grey pepper hoodie from American Apparel. I wore it for about a week, no breaks.

My midterm gift to myself was this pair of corduroy pants from Gap. I’ve been coveting a pair for the longest time, but resolved not to buy any until I knew they would be flattering. American Apparel’s definitely weren’t flattering, and I didn’t trust American Eagle’s sizing on me. These were on sale in October for a limited time, and so I ordered them, trusting that they would be, as promised, the same fit as the other skinny jeans I have from Gap. They are. I love them.
Oh, and I usually wear this vintage blouse of my mom’s as sleepwear, but I’m putting it into daytime rotation.

I’ve sort of been feeling uninspired in terms of my wardrobe lately. Maybe I’m just feeling the crunch of having brought fewer clothes this year. This outfit, however, felt like a return to form.

Fall means layering in warm lush neutrals, and wearing rubber boots proudly because they’re comfy and practical. I wore this sweater three times this week, incidentally. That may be too much but I don’t hear any complaints from the peanut gallery (which is really just the Boyfriend), so…

Blazers and skinnies, My new fall back-to-school 2010 staple. New dark-wash skinnies from Gap, new Zara blazer (well, not that new), and plain white tee.

Yes. Please. All of these. Thank you for solving my dilemma as to whether to buy more over-the-knee socks. Also, why is it that no matter how many blazers I buy, I never feel like I have the perfect one?
